This is a GreenTurtle. You may wonder...There is no green color on it..Then why it is called as Green Turtle. Because the flesh under its shell is green in color. This green flesh  is used for making soup. Their top shell   is normally brown or black

The green flesh of the Green Turtle is used for making soup. GreenTurtle soup is the  common  turtle soup in USA and UK. Greenturtle is an endangered species and so it is illegal

There are many islands known as turtle islands. The GreenTurtles nest on these beaches. They dig nests and lay eggs during night. On an avergage they lay about 100 eggs at a time.  They travel hundres of miles to choose their hatching place. The temperature of the eggs decide the sex of the babies. 

Green Turtle  cemented with a GPS transmitter at  Chennai Tamilnadu India. Whenever this turtle surfaces for air, the tranmitter will send signals and its location is determined.
